Contacts let you save Stellar addresses alongside friendly names, so your AI assistant can send payments by name instead of requiring you to dictate a 56-character Stellar public key. When you tell your AI “send 10 USDC to Alice,” Pay3 resolves “Alice” to Alice’s verified Stellar address from your contacts list — no guessing, no address hallucination.

How name resolution works

When an AI session requests a payment and provides a recipient name rather than a raw Stellar address, Pay3 resolves the name using this priority order:
  1. Exact Stellar address match — if the AI provides a full G... address, it’s used directly.
  2. Alias match — the short name you assigned the contact (e.g., alice).
  3. Display name match — the full name you gave the contact (e.g., Alice Johnson).
If no match is found in your contacts list, the payment is rejected. Pay3 never guesses or approximates recipient addresses.

Contact fields

The alias field is optional but strongly recommended for any contact you expect your AI to reference frequently.
Use short, unambiguous aliases for your most frequent payment recipients. Single-word aliases like alice, vendor, or payroll are easiest for AI assistants to match accurately and reduce the chance of a name conflict.

Adding a contact

1

Open the Contacts page

Click Contacts in the dashboard navigation bar.
2

Fill in the contact form

Enter a Display name, an optional Alias, and the recipient’s Stellar address (starting with G). All three fields accept free-text input; the Stellar address field is validated for correct format.
3

Click Add contact

Click Add contact. The new contact appears in the list below the form, showing the display name, alias, and the full Stellar address.

Deleting a contact

Click Delete next to any contact to remove it permanently. Deleting a contact does not affect past transactions — it only prevents future payments from resolving to that address.
If your policy has allowedRecipientIds configured, deleting a contact that appears in that list will cause the AI to reject payment requests to that former contact. Update your policy’s allowed recipient list after removing contacts.

Using contacts with policy restrictions

Your spending policy has an optional allowedRecipientIds field. When set, the AI session is restricted to sending payments only to contacts whose IDs appear in that list. Any payment request to an address not on the approved list — even a valid Stellar address — will be rejected. This is useful when you want to guarantee that an AI assistant can only pay a fixed set of known vendors, teammates, or services, regardless of what instructions it receives.
The allowedRecipientIds field takes internal Pay3 contact IDs, not Stellar addresses or aliases. When you create or edit a policy, select contacts from your existing contacts list to populate this field correctly.

Example: paying by name

Once you’ve added a contact for Alice Johnson with alias alice, you can instruct your AI assistant naturally:
“Send 25 USDC to alice for the design invoice.”
Pay3 resolves alice → Alice Johnson → GABC...XYZ and executes the payment (or queues it for approval if it’s above your policy threshold). The full Stellar address, resolved contact name, and transaction status all appear in your Transactions history.
